Description
A programmer is needed to provide development services to the Our Client’s Global Futures business Reporting platform.
Responsible for all aspects of software development of a multi-threaded internet application consisting of more than 2000 users. The developer will use and enhance existing components and frameworks. This individual will be asked to translate business requirements into working production quality software through standard software development practices. Ongoing support of production deployed components will be mandatory.
The Prime Finance department exists within the Markets & Banking division of the firm to provide trading, finance, securities lending and other services to internal and external clients. Global Futures Technology is a business within Prime Finance servicing Futures client globally.
The technology web platform supporting this business is currently being re-architected using state of the art front end and back end technologies that can support the aggressive growth plans of the business.
Key Responsibilities:
The successful applicant will work on strategic projects to add additional products and services to Global Prime:
• Successfully interpret business requirements
• Implement new application functionality in conjunction with other development team members
• Liaise with Quality Assurance Testers to ensure functionality meets expectations
• Liaise with Primary Support staff to ensure successful operation of functionality post release
• Contribute ideas on technology and process to ensure the team is productive and successful
Key Relationships:
• Local technology team members in NY, including teams within the department providing Quality Assurance Testing and Primary Support services.
• Remote technology team members in New York, Bangalore and Shanghai.
• Business users in New York, London, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Melbourne.
• Other technology groups who impact and are impacted by the Prime Brokerage business.
Qualifications
Essential Skills:
• 5+ working knowledge in J2EE development
• 3+ years working experience with messaging framework
• Must have experience in UNIX/Shell scripting.
• Must have working knowledge of using the Spring framework.
• Must have experience in databases (Sybase / SQL Server / Oracle) platform.
Desirable Skills
• Experience with Gemfire cache technology
• Demonstrated development of highly responsive, scalable, framework and pattern based applications.
• Working knowledge on Weblogic platforms
• Knowledge of Service Oriented Design principles
• Software design patterns
Knowledge/Experience:
• Experience in building J2EE based web applications a must.
• Experience in front end technologies like EXT-JS, JavaScript, HTML, CSS is a must
• Futures trading and clearing knowledge a plus.
• Ability to understand business/functional requirements and translate them into development tasks.
Competencies:
• Ability to work in a demanding and fast paced financial environment.
• Interest and aptitude to quickly learn new tools and technologies.
