Job Description
Responsible for procurement of specific commodities, parts, sub-assemblies, technical equipment and raw materials etc.
Essential Functions:
1. Responsible for all purchasing functions related to procurement of material, planning, scheduling and follow-up throughout the facility to improve customer service and reduce lead-time. He will work to improve material flow within the manufacturing facility and manage suppliers, materials and inventory consistent with the requirements of a Lean/Six-Sigma manufacturing environment.
2. Collect and analyze data to support supply sourcing, negotiations and vendor performance evaluation and develop corrective action plan, if necessary develop alternate source
3. Investigate, resolve and follow up on supply problems related to rate and quotations
4. Perform routine sourcing, data entry into business systems, enter orders, monitor purchase price variances and resolve them.
5.Coordinate supplier information requirements: RFQ specs, drawings, sample parts.
6. Support plant production requirements through efficient and effective planning, expediting as required, but with emphasis on improving supplier direct response to plant.
7. Perform warranty analysis, coordinate and follow up warranty recovery efforts.
8. Build strong value adding relationships with suppliers, business unit procurement leaders, plant supply managers and cross functional departments.
9. Negotiate prices and lead time with vendors that are not part of contracts to meet customer requirements and to achieve supply objectives.
10. Coordinates purchasing activities between GD management and customer to develop, standard and non-standard issues.
11. Researches vendors during shortage period.
Desired Candidate
1. 02 to 04 years experience, preferably from an Engineering/Auto Industry
2. Bachelors degree in engineering, purchasing and supply management and/or equivalent combination of education & relevant work experience.
3. Computer literate especially Excel & other DB program necessary. Experience in SAP preferred.
4. Build strong value adding relationships with suppliers, business unit procurement leaders, plant supply managers and cross functional departments.
5. Customer complaint handling and resolution ( Assist the suppliers in use of 8 D etc)
6. Actively demonstrates interest and concerns for others views, involves others in decision and plans. Shows respect for different cultures.
7. Build strong value adding relationships with suppliers, procurement leaders, plant supply chain managers and cross functional departments.
8. Ability to work independently, to prioritize work assignments to meet deadlines, exercise professional judgment.
9. Attention to detail and ability to adopt to change. Ability to adhere to company principals, values and ethics
