Reporting to the President of our global consumer goods business unit, the Human Resources Director provides proactive leadership, direction, and professional expertise in all areas of human resources management for all of  our consumer goods global locations, but with an emphasis on staffing and recruiting, talent management, and employee and labor relations. This executive will provide hands-on human resources leadership as a strong business partner within the organization and will clearly define programs and policies that can drive human resources management practices to support the achievement of revenue and profit goals. The Human Resources Director will also act as an advisor to the President and management group on key business issues relating to human resources. The Human Resources Director will be described as a proactive, hands-on manager skilled in functioning in a fast paced, team-oriented business environment. They will have the well-developed interpersonal skills necessary to function across all levels of the organization. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 


  • Lead the short and long term strategies of the business unit by assessing the business needs, processes and policies, and develop a pro-active, responsive, and integrated human resources function that aligns practices and policies across all facilities and locations.
  • Assume proactive leadership and direction of all human resources policies and programs with an ongoing emphasis on staffing and recruitment, talent management, and employee and labor relations.
  • Establish a consultative relationship with the President and key executives of the business unit at headquarters and other sites and geographies to ensure compliance with organization policies, procedures, and legal obligations on a global scale.
  • Define and realize cost efficiencies from the application of effective staffing, talent management, and other human resource functions at all levels of the business unit in collaboration with key executives and managers across all locations.
  • Recommend and implement human resources plans and programs that will assist the business in the achievement of targets in revenue growth and profitability.
  • Review and recommend compensation and benefits programs that manage costs and increase productivity across the business unit, are consistent with maintenance of employee motivation, and in compliance with corporate policies.
  • Review and update management and organization development programs and succession planning as appropriate across the business unit.
  • Supervise, mentor, and provide continuous training and support for the global Human Resources team.
  • Enhance existing training and development platforms across the business and recommend improvements and modifications as required.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable international, national, state, and local regulations and laws on an optimal cost basis.
  • Assume proactive responsibility for labor relations across all facilities of the business unit. Personally provide hands-on leadership of programs and specific actions to address labor relations issues.
  • Ensure that all plans, programs, and policies in the human resources area are established and managed in a manner that is compliant and complementary with corporate policies and programs of the parent organization.
  • Accept organizational direction from the parent company and effectively implement decisions and changes at a business level.



SKILLS & ABILITIES: 


  • This individual must be able to define human resources strategy and program development as a member of a management team, while also proactively addressing the hands-on tactical and HR operational needs of the business organization at all levels.
  • This executive will be experienced in positioning the human resources function and department as a strategic business partner with executives across the organization and implementing human resource changes to achieve business results.
  • While this executive will be adept at the formulation of effective programs, they will also have demonstrated common sense, maturity, and sound judgment in addressing business issues.




EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: 


  • Minimum of 15 years of broad-based human resources experience with increasingly significant levels of responsibility involving major business decisions.
  • Additionally, at least 10 years of recent generalist human resources experience.
  • An undergraduate degree is required for this position, and an MBA would be considered a strong asset.
  • Professional expertise in leading the development and implementation of effective programs in all key and traditional areas of human resources management, with particular strengths in recruitment, staffing, talent management, organizational development and labor relations is required for this position.
  • Experience in business environments characterized by growth and change will be of added value, including experience in an organization with reasonably significant international operations.
