Experienced Chief Financial Professional needed for $6.5 Billion Assets group 


Position Description
- The individual must be both hands-on and able to direct financial control activities of the 
   organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate staff. 

-  Position requires a self-motivated, detail-oriented individual with 18+ years of 
    progressively responsible management experience; strong system management abilities; 
    excellent analytical, written, oral and interpersonal communication skills; customer-
    service focus and ability to work collaboratively with other departments within the 
   organization; and, experience with Solomon-Business accounting and financial systems. 

- Individual should have adequate breadth of experience, financial acumen and 
  communication skills to handle Board-level presentations. 

- Experience with elected Boards and  funds in a corporate and trust environment a plus.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* Position is responsible for organization-wide reporting and the establishment of strong 
    systems, policies and procedures for a group of large trust funds managed through one 
    administrative entity.

 * Formulation and administration of accounting, budgeting, payroll, and risk management 
    policies

 * Manage all relevant aspects of accounting, including, financial reports, payables and 
    receivables

* Maintain an enterprise-wide financial system (Microsoft Dynamics and SharePoint)

* Ensure accurate, timely and consistent accounting and financial reporting across the 
   organization

* Oversee the preparation of the annual budget, financial statements, investment reporting 
   and tax returns

* Oversee investment accounting for $6.5 billion in pension assets

* Manage electronic disbursement and custody banking relationships, credit card 
   applications and automated payments

* Oversee monthly revenue collections from 40+ employers

* Oversee contract administration for signatory employers and vendors

* Develop and maintain a system of internal controls which assure legal/fiscal compliance 
   with laws, rules, and generally accepted accounting practices

* Prepare monthly financial statement analysis, identify major variance to budgets and 
    important trends and opportunities

* Prepare the monthly and annual financial statement presentations to the Boards of 
   Trustees and senior management on both a cash and accrual basis.

* Manage, hire, train and develop accounting staff in a union-represented environment

* Coordinate annual and employer compliance audits and ensure internal compliance

* Ability to be hands-on as well as direct activities of others

* Ability to take initiative and work independently as well as in a team setting

* Ability to work with Fund Counsel, Consultants and Actuaries on a regular basis.

* Overall responsibility for the Accounting department, including the following functions: 
   Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Investment Accounting, Credit & Collections, 
  General Accounting and Payroll. Responsible for financial statement preparation, budgets 
  and forecasts, cash management, investment reporting, account reconciliations, insurance 
  programs, banking relationships and audits by external regulatory and other authorities. 
  


Education and Experience

- Bachelor's/Master/Doctorate degree in accounting or finance 

- 18+ years related experience, including supervision; or equivalent combination of education and experience. A CPA and/or MBA is highly desirable. A strong knowledge of Microsoft Office is essential
