The Director-Finance will primarily be responsible for providing management information and business advice to the business on a day-to-day basis while supporting the business leadership teams.  The incumbent will be responsible for providing strategic financial advice to support achievement of overall business objectives while maximizing profits.  

They will also ensure that information and advice is delivered timely and accurately, company policies and procedures are followed and that communication between finance and the business is strong.  To fulfill this role, the Director-Finance will:



Reporting and Analytics 


  • Provide relevant and consistent management information 
  • Provide analytical support and financial oversight for the senior management team 
  • Consult with business leaders to develop performance metrics, reports on and challenge business performance regularly using standard reporting metrics as well as internally developed business specific metrics 
  • Manage the forecasting, budgeting and strategic planning activities for the market as well as for the respective groups within the market 25%




Business Financial leadership 


  • Build strong relationships / partnership with the business leaders and corporate finance staff 
  • Assess business issues and provide information and advice to assist growth, productivity, operational efficiency and profit improvement 
  • Evaluate business opportunities, including mergers and acquisitions, business combinations and divestment's as required 
  • Review regional / global budgets and forecasts using department leaders’ feedback and initiatives while aligning with management guidance. 
  • Manage finance staff, including making hiring decisions, staff development and managing performance 50%



Strategy & Operational support 


  • Assess operational strengths and weaknesses to assist Leadership in understanding and articulating short and long range strategies to achieve improved operational agility, growth and profitability objectives 
  • Work with business leaders to determine the right approach, steps and structure to achieve growth and profitability objectives 
  • Identify margin improvement and scalability opportunities that develops and monitors execution plans to achieve benefits 
  • Champion business change and transformation and work with key partners to develop and execute change management plans 
  • Partner with business leaders and where applicable develop M&A opportunities, analyze potential targets and develop and execute post-merger integration plans 30% 



Qualifications


  • Degree in finance, accounting, business or economics, MBA preferred 
  • 15+ years of experience
  •  Proven people manager with ability to influence staff with or without direct reporting responsibility 
  •  Ability to build relationships with business leaders and influence and provide advice on key decisions. 
  •  Results-focused, analytical approach with a strong customer / client service ethos. 
  •  Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to engage, manage and influence team members and senior stakeholders 
  •  Integrity and responsibility to want to deliver on the promised outcomes to clients.
