Our Leadership Stage- International Banking and financial services client's  Merchant Banking Division is seeking an experienced real estate deal professional to join the core M&A / capital advisory team in the Singapore office to focus on Real estate (income producing) M&A, capital raising and principal investment transactions.  This individual will be a “deal maker” in the Real estate market and will be responsible for sourcing and executing M&A and capital raising transactions within the client network of real estate investors and portfolio of assets, and will lead all business development efforts to source real estate opportunities from new client relationships.

In addition to strong technical skills, the ideal candidate will be a highly motivated, experienced individual with solid M&A and capital raising experience coupled with strong network skills.


Major Responsibilities

75% Business Development functions to include but not limited to placing transactions, uncovering real estate  Investment opportunities and partnering with other groups within the Merchant Banking Division as well as with the Commercial Real Estate Banking group.


  • In an advisory capacity, evaluate growth objectives and deal opportunities for commercial real estate clients
  • Identify real estate  clients with a track record of strong performance and a need for additional equity capital investment, and help to facilitate the growth through the raising of capital
  • Advise commercial real estate clients on their M&A strategies and opportunities (i.e. buying or selling income property investment portfolio)
  • Partner with the Commercial Real Estate Banking group as well as groups within the Merchant Banking Division to deepen relationships with existing clients
  • Identify contacts, pitch deals to the origination teams, lead site visits, attend work group sessions with the underwriting teams, and negotiate deal terms
  • Originate deal flows through candidate’s proprietary network
  • Network, attend round tables and remain abreast of the latest market trends
  • Nurture relationships and identify new potential capital sources
  • Perform real estate market research on complex commercial properties
  • Successfully source prospective clients and collaborate with clients to identify their needs and deliver the full resources of  our leadership stage client Bank while providing a customized solution
  • Ability to quickly and effectively evaluate, summarize and present investment opportunities, often with little direction or oversight
  • Responsible for assisting clients in the structural considerations of each transaction, such as legal, tax and accounting
  • C-level client interaction contributing to the development and communication of proposals and advice with current and prospective clients
  • Identify, analyze and underwrite investment opportunities for the development of commercial properties across all property types, investment structures and risk profiles.



20% Credit Quality/Risk Management


  • Oversee and create underwriting models and offering memorandums
  • Proactively addresses risk (including credit, BSA, AML, fair lending, market and reputation risk)
  • Balance the pursuit of earnings growth and financial performance with disciplined risk management
  • Manage the control environment to ensure audit, compliance and regulatory standards are met
  • Ensure safekeeping of bank and customer assets, including information
  • Support and ensure data accuracy and integrity
  • Manage and proactively address risk associated with changes in processes and procedures



Supervisory Responsibilities

This job has no supervisory responsibilities, but the right candidate will have the opportunity to build a team within the Merchant Banking Division focused exclusively on real estate M&A, capital advisory and principal investment transactions




Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor/Master/Doctorate in finance, economics, accounting or a related field
  • MBA or CFA strongly desired
  • Ideal candidate will have 10+ year(s) prior experience in real estate investment banking and, or real estate private equity
  • History of executed real estate transactions – deal sheet required
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial data, and governmental regulations
  • Open to international candidates
